Sopa from the other side of the tracks
Wile sopa to me is a big bad monster it's opposing side makes it look like Santa Claus. First sopa will be used to change the way artists get payed. I get this, to a point while yes if I made music I would want every penny, but then you see them using it mostly for their own good and they have billions of it. Can't a kid have a free song. Then for the movies. Again it's a great point but box office sales could set someone up for a life of luxury.i have to admit even I get a lot of movies like this to watch but really sopa is it that bad? So I leave the reader with a question to think about. Is sacrificing freedom worth Britney spears getting her party money?

Take the time to get to know SOPA
Now you know what sopa is but to really pick a side on sopa you need to know the facts. First sopa would be used to shut down sites with any copyright infringement. This could mean them shutting down sites like Wikipedia for very minor copyright reasons. This over dramatic take on copyright infringement could censor anything on the Internet that is suspected of copyright infringement. Websites like fox news said that "sopa is a pandoras box just waiting to be opened". How I took this quote was that sopa is just a box of terrible laws just waiting to be passes. This might not be too bad you might think it will be good for the intertainment industry they make more money and scammers are stopped but then I read this section in an article about sopa "Section 102(a)(2) permits the attorney general to take action against foreign sites (i.e., sites that do not fall under U.S. jurisdiction) if “the owner or operator of such Internet site is facilitating the commission of [copyright infringement].”We’ll expand on this further down, but the really scary thing here is that there isn’t any qualification that the site be solely for the purpose of theft, only that it facilitate it. Since copyright violation is ridiculously easy, any site with a comment box or picture upload form is potentially infringing. Furthermore, DMCA Safe Harbor provisions are no defense. You, as a site operator, become liable for copyright infringement committed by your users, even if you comply with DMCA takedown requests." now let me explain this monster this section 102 of sopa says if the website is even suspected of theft even in a comment box they can take action.EVERY SITE HAS A COMMENT BOX. YouTube a popular site has one and if you add something to someone's video that gets them in trouble so you can copyright without even knowing it. Thesis the power of the dangerous can that is sopa

The con side of things
He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself. ~Thomas Paine. This is the side of SOPA I am on because, to even have the possibility of our freedom being taken away is enough for me to say no to SOPA. While sopa even I admit can be a great thing and protect artists from having their work stolen the fact that our freedom can just be censored away I believe is the greatest con of SOPA. That is why I say no to sopa.

The Pros and Cons
The pros and cons of sopa weigh each other out however most people only know sopa for being the killer of free speech its supposed to be the killer of online piracy. The pros of sopa are actually something that would make the online world a great place and it would make the people who work hard on their music and movies make the money they deserve. Then there is the cons of sopa the Godzilla of the internet. Wikipedia even said this on their website after they blacked out to protest it "Imagine a World Without Free Knowledge For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia. Learn more." But then they explained why this would be a great con of sopa "Why? SOPA and PIPA would put the burden on website owners to police user-contributed material and call for the unnecessary blocking of entire sites. Small sites won't have sufficient resources to defend themselves. Big media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for their foreign competitors, even if copyright isn't being infringed. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won't show up in major search engines. SOPA and PIPA would build a framework for future restrictions and suppression. In a world in which politicians regulate the Internet based on the influence of big money, Wikipedia — and sites like it — cannot survive." this is the biggest problem everyone has with sopa and what makes it such a controversial topic they could use their power (granted by the government) for good or evil. Even google had their famous logo censored in protest.(CNN WIRE STAFF) Can you imagine a world without google, How about without Facebook and twitter because they could be taken down in this crossfire also mark walburg said in a conference that Facebook to would also black out in protest this however is a rum. Even website like dixi sun are saying "the pros don't outweigh the cons" So leaving you with the Question is sopa more of a pro or con

The recent history of SOPA and PIPA
SOPA the Stop online piracy act while claiming to only censor the pirated movies music and games the law was written very loosely and could be used by the government to censor anything on the internet. This is what SOPA is and what it can do. This clearly would interfere with free speech. Without question, our nation’s Founding Fathers never imagined something like the Internet, but whether it was freedom of the press or freedom of assembly they saw government as protecting the American people against things like SOPA and PIPA not the government being the one to cause the censorship. As you can see our freedom of speech once protected by the constitution could be abolished by this law or as they see it could stop online piracy. Ether way you put it do you really want the government this much in control in essence this post could be destroyed by SOPA as soon as it is passed.
